Schäfer
Gents,
At first i planned to put this into 'Show and Tell', but propably this will be more like 'Show and Ask'.
Some months ago got this beautiful razor. It was quite dirty but all i did was cleaning with soap and water to get it clean. It was also already very sharp, so it was sort of strop and go with this. Very good shaver. The blade point is also sharp so it is easy to get wounds if not respecting the blade enough.
On the tang says 'Schäefer' and 'Rapid Shave' and on the opposite side there is 'Solingen, Made in Germany'. On the blade there is a gold wash of bagpipe player and the text 'Bagpiper registr.' Also there are few decorations with red and green flowers (?). The gold washing and the decorations have no wear. The scales seem to be plastic with 'Solingen' inlay. This has once been a part of a 7-day set, as on the back of the blade there reads 'friday' with 2 red flowers.
Compared to my other razors (W&B, Boker, Le Grelot) this one is larger.
However i would like to know if any of you gents have any information of the 'Schäefer' brand, age, origin and specially does this pagpiper have any other meaning than just decoration.
And yes, these pictures were damn difficult to shoot, as you can see from the quality.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

WOW. That is an absolutely drop dead gorgeous razor. I don't know anything about the brand, but if its a good shaver AND that beautiful, its a keeper.

Recently there was a useful link here in SRP for old German razor makers. Found out that Schäfer made razors in 1925, but that was all there was.
