If it has high hone wear in the middle like that on one side, and high hone wear on the toe and heel on the other (with less in the middle) then I'd say it was warped.
It means that you didn't have any idea how to properly apply tape when you did that. Additionally, it appears that the pics you provided illustrated more the fact you didn't really know how to hone (which you admitted), and the issues you thought were a warped blade is explained by that fact instead of a quality of the razor issue...Quote:

How is it possible to hone a razor like that with a flat hone and almost no pressure? Wouldn't one have to push the middle of the edge of the blade into the hone to get wear like that?Quote:

But looking at the last two pics you've shown that show offsetting honewear on either side (more in the middle on one side, more at the ends on the other side) I would give my opinion that indeed that is a warped blade.
Another example of a crummy blade grind.
This time, it's a Wapi.
First pic shows initial honing with an area that just would not contact the hone.
Second pic shows after I decided that instead of having the thing sit foreve in my drawer I honed the bejebbers out of it, removing about 1/8" of blade width, and finally getting the bevel set.
My 2c... Hydaral, I won't say that your Dovos were never warped, because, there is always the chance that they were.
However, those razors, in their current condition, are impossible to evaluate because any resemblance to their original condition has been altered by improper honing. There is no way anyone in here could determine if the blades were warped they day you pulled them out of the box based on these pictures.

I beg to differ. The honewear is so massive that there is little use in speculating. Looking at razor #1, I daresay that the problem is the honing, not the razor. Usually that kind of wear is the result of compulsive honing by people with limited experience. They do not know when to stop until they have ground down the razor. And then blame it on a warped blade.Quote:

And now, to keep it on-topic here are the results I had on four fresh out of the box Double Arrows. I magic markered them, and then ran them over 3um lapping film a few times. No corrections, etc at this point, just a simple marker test as arrived.
