Looks like cheap s@*t to me, never heard of it before, most likely chinese or pakistani.
That's kind of what I was thinking; I was almost lured by the low price and shiny new blade! I'm looking for cheap blades to practice honing on, but I'd rather get something I know is worth the effort. There's something messed up about Mickey Mouse standing next to it, too. I guess the double arrows that are about the same price are a much better deal.
Yeah, considering that the person have chosen to use a trademarked figure in his picture it probably means that the manufacturing process/design ideas is at best lacking compared to Dovo or Issard.
I base this on the assumption that Disney would not bother going into the straight razor market.
And as if that wasn't enough, the seller is in Canada, you will have to wait a few months for you stuff to arrive  The Canadian Post is the slowest I have ever encountered...
Actually, there is a possibility these are the same as the Chinese Double Arrow -- the markings inside the Double Arrow scales turn out to translate to something like "Gold Dollar." (See this thread.) Couldn't say for sure, though, and anyway the Double Arrows are cheaper. I would be interested to know if these have the same markings inside the scales.
The company that makes the Double Arrow is called "Gold Dollar". I found the name inside the scales actually, in Chinese. The characters look like this: 金元.
The words literally mean Gold Dollar, and here is their website! electric hair clippers, scissors, hair clippers, hair scissors-Best hair clippers and scissors manufacturer in China
Other link?: http://www.gdl.cn/en/index.php Looks like a nicer page, more like a company page.
OK so maybe the model name isn't Gold Dollar, but knowing the company name is awesome! Their site has a lot of really nice looking razors on it as well.
Pretty cool stuff. I'm in Chinese 2 right now in college, and I'm so excited I figured this out! Looks like they also make some other nice looking razors!

Thanks for the post!
I went to the website, sent them an email asking for prices & quantity info.
The model 66 is $1.88 and the model 300 is $5+( has jimps and a complete shoulder)
The minimum quantity is 1000 razors!
Anybody for a group buy?:D
Will they sell you or send you a sample before you commit to buying 1000 of them? I'd want to be sure the steel is actually worth a crap -- remember it IS actually "made in China" FWIW.....
I'm a nebwbie, but even I have enough of a case of RAD to consider oh, 50-100 or so of these (depending on the price of selected model), if they are decent --- even if the scales are crummy they are fodder for tinkering and customizing!
Nice catch! Anyone taking this to the next level?
If anyone wants to followup on this here is the contact info

The website has pics of the razors. Pay attention to the shoulder and the jimps.
OK, the scales are made by Gold Dollar, the Double Arrow razor is not. Double Arrow has it's own website (I have it in one of my threads on Shanghai steel I think...) and it's own razors.
From the GD website you can see their razors have GD tang stamps, etc. I believe it is a completely seperate entity.Judging from the lack of quality of the Gold Dollar scales that come on a DA, I don't think I want to try out the razors they produce!
(Actually, that's not fair, as from the pics, the razors look to be as nice as the DAs, as long as they use a similar quality steel, they probably shave fine)
I have contemplated ordering up a case of DAs though. At worst I could sell them off like stamps222 does at $9.5 each.
Or offer them pre-honed for an extra $20.....
add in a French, or Szechuan point for an additional $20.....
thumbnotch upgrade $30......
re-scaled in acrylic $30
Semi-custom pulldowm menu!;)
:hmmm:
I think it's time to get a couple of razors fom Gold Dollar for evaluation and find out what their minimum qty is. The way I read it the minimum is 1000 razors with 100 razors per carton. The price spreadsheet they sent had a column title of MOG with 1000 under that.
I will try and contact them monday.
The Gold Dollars like pretty nice to me.
I would get a sample before I ordered anything. You might end up with 1000 zeepk quality razors.
If this gets to the point that the samples prove worthy, please PM me about the group buy -- I'd kick in for 25-100 pieces depending on price/model.
I'd like to be in this if there is a group buy. Let me know
David
I'd be in for about twenty I guess.
I'll buy some if someone does a bulk purchase.
I would be up for 10 or so of the cheapies, or 5'ish of the 5 dollar ones.
Here is the thread for the group buy, since no one seems to have coordinates it yet, I made a thread for you guys. http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...tml#post333568
I would suggest to simply purchase a real Double Arrow from Stamps222 for $9.50 a pop. Go ahead and buy 2 or 3. Be realistic, you guys would pay that much ($20-30) for a tarnished, perhaps chipped old Boker/Torrey on the Bay, why not drop it on 3 brand new razors that only need to be honed to be used? (OK, a re-scale may be needed as well....)
As I said on a different post: $9.50 a razor is about the cost of the latest Gillette replacement cartridges, so buy a pack of DAs, and after they go dull, toss it out and start with the next one!
The amount of hassle to get one of these razors for $2 a piece as oppsed to $9.50 a piece...is it really worth it?
What can I say, I am impatient
Do you know which ones stamps sells? I am guessing the cheap ones, given the plastic scales.
neither one of the links in the original thread seems to work, but I'm in for maybe a dozen razors or so. maybe more, but i'll need to see the link first.
I purchased a GD from Seraphim which I received last week. The workmanship on the scales and modification of the blade are top rate. I figured, because of its reputation, that this would be a high maintenance str8 but it is not. I've shaved three times with it, stropped after the 2nd and 3rd time, and it actually feels sharper than after its first use.
In addition to the above, I love the feel of this str8. IMO, it has great balance and weight, substantial but not cumbersome.
Highly recommended.
Thank you Craig!
Pictures or it doesn't exist. LOL
Yes, Sera does some fine work. I always enjoy looking at his razors.

:dropjaw: Those scales look amazing! What are they? Acrylic on metal-liner?
wow! that's a beautiful razor
what did you pay for that kind of work?
... and transparent acrylic. Got you. Anyways, enjoy the sharpie :D. Hope it shaves as good as it looks
Isn't a Gold dollar a Double Arrow? Not throwing off here, I have one, but I keep seeing Gold Dollars and I need a little clarification. Thanks :)
I'm not really clear on this either. The two Chinese razors I bought off Ebay (both excellent,by the way) were sold as Double Arrows, but look exactly like the Gold Dollars that are currently showing up with Kenrup, Seraphim et al. Is this a simple case of misidentification?
Best Regards
goshawk
P S That's a beautiful razor, Bayamontate. Enjoy!
Thanks goshawk.
KB, from what I understand, Gold Dollar is made by the same company that manufactures Double Arrow. I'm happy to report that it in fact shaves as good as it looks, I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.
Thanks for the speedy response.
It is my opinion that Gold Dollar is the original manufacturer of the Double Arrow, and that Double Arrow is simply the name given to the GD by an intermediary export company (that I can no longer locate the website for...). that is why an astute SRP member was able to read the Chinese characters inside the Double Arrow scales that clearl;y said "Gold Dollar". And so here we are. I can tell you, that there is no discernable difference between GDs and DAs.
Here is a glimpse into the mysterious world of Gold Dollar manufacturing:
