Yup, until my beautiful Brian Brown custom 8/8 arrives, all I will use is my Gold Dollar.
I will only use my "traveler " Ozuku Asagi to touch it up if needed. And Tabac soap only .
This is the result of a thread on another forum, so I'm limited to that gear only. Could be fun!
Honed the GD on the ozuku today and got a wicked edge off it. We'll see how long it holds up. :)
Wish me luck!
i thought those were supposed to be junk...... is it a good shaver??
OutStanding!! I own 2 Gold Dollar Str8's and 100 and the 208, both very fine shavers, U used 3 layers of tape on the final polishing to give a VERY short bevel and as it turned out, very fine edge to both!!
In spite of there being a number of GD's that are not quite up to snuff out there, I'm happy some one other than my self realize's that. I bought both of mine from Ron at starshavingsupples on e-bay, I belives Mr. Lucas's are more consistant than some other dealers out there.
And just for the record, no I don't have any stake in that business!![just to be clear]
Have a great G/day and a BBS to boot!!

This thread has the potential to be awesome!
You will be good blix
All I use now is gold dollars I can typically get a month of shaves out of each blade before needing to go back to touch it up. Probably could go even longer than that but my neck gets temperamental when an edge starts to go. I have a seven day set of 208's that I am working on kitting out in new scales and the like. So have fun.
As to having to buy them by the dozen I have bought 8 gold dollars total with my first being a gold dollar 66 and except the shoulder problem (that is simple to fix with a dremel) all have taken an edge very nicely.
