Default A whole box of razors

I went to the flea market the other day and as usual I was keeping my eye open for straight razors. When I see someone with a lot of old stuff on their table I always ask if they have any razors or sharpening stones. Sometimes I get lucky and the other day was the best. A guy said I have a few. He then reached in his truck and sat a box on the table about a foot square. It was more than half full of straight razors. About 20 percent of them were snaggle toothed rusted, Chiped, and broken beyond any hope. The rest were mostly intact. some rust on them and a lot of rust on some and some very lightly rusted. Now get this! I found nine BOKERS and six of them had good scales. He wanted from fifteen to thirty dollars for them. I only had the money for three but he said he would be there every week and would bring them with him. What a jackpot. I have already re handled one of them that had no handles and was marked, "RADIUM" with curly maple handles and sharpened and shaved with it. It is great. The other two have good handles and are marked KING CUTTER. I am going to restore them as best I can. As soon as I figure out how to do the picture thing here I will post pics of them. I am really excited!!!

Congrats on the bargains!Look forward to seeing them in photos.Posting photos is pretty easy.Once they are on your computer, and you have clicked on "post reply",just scroll down to "manage attachments"it's way down near the bottom.Click that.Next click on one of the browse buttons.Find the photo you want to use.Double click on it.Once you have all photos you want to use lined up in the boxes, click on upload, then wait til they do.Sometimes takes a minute.Once that's done they appear as attachments. Then just click on Submit reply.Hope this makes SOME sense!

I admit that I am very lucky but I know next to nothing about what razors are the best ones to buy. Could someone give me an idea of what ones are the best to look for and maybe in the order of best to least. Thanks, Mack.

Mack, unless you want to collect razors you could probably shave just fine for the rest of your life with those 3 Bokers and hand them down to your grandkids.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

+1 This is one of the best thoughts about shaving with a straight for me... My kids and grandkids will get to inherit one more personal, cool thing from me that will hold as much (I hope) meaning for them as it did for me.

    Congrats on the fantastic score!
