Thinking of My Christmas present
Ok I know it suppose to be a surprise but my wife does not know about these things. So I am helping her.
I am wanting a 6/8 LIVI REGRIND but I was wanting to hear from guys that has one. I have a 1/4 grind Wacker that is in a tie with my 7/8 Fridour for the smoothest shaver right now.
Does anyone have either one of these AND a livi regrind? I want to know how it comperes to something I already know, like my two top shavers presently.
Can someone with both or all three compare?
Thanks

Tough one. They are all great.
I have a Livi 6/8
two Wackers and a Henckels Friodor 8/8 Spanish point.
Don't get me wrong, I love both the Wackers and the Henckels Friodor, but you will not regret going for the Mastro Livi.

How smooth is the LIVI? What grind do you feel it is? I have been told it is a 1/2 hollow. Is it as prone to rust as the wackers? Thx

Kris,
All carbon steel is prone to rust if not properly taken care of. Wacker razors are no more or less prone to rust than any other carbon steel razor brand. Wacker razors are made of the same quality tool steel that Dovo and the other German razor manufacturers have used for decades. Are you comparing carbon steel to carbon steel or carbon steel to stainless?

John,
Thanks for the reply
I was simply repeating what I had heard about the Wacker. I actually find the steel in the Wacker "feels" better. I would assume it was higher quality steel than dovos and such use. I have not had any rust problems however, I bought my wacker "used" and the guy before me said it rusted a little eaiser?? It did have a little rust spot on it and a little on the tang where it is pined also. I just give it a good bath in camila oil after every shave and no more problems.

The Mastro Livi is extremely smooth. If I had a limited budget and had to live with only one razor it would be a Mastro Livi. The grid on mine feels like between a 1/2 hollow and a 1/4 hollow. I haven't had any problems with rust on any of my razors.
That the Wackers are prone to rust I would consider an urban myth.
