EKT brand?

I found on eBay a new razor with the brand name EKT i cant find much on them but they are around 15.99 for it. looking for some thing new that wont cost me more than $30-40 if you have any suggestions the EKT really cough my eye tho. something i can use a few times on a strop and my face maybe get a few good months out of it, hope fully a year. I would advise you to not buy this.

When a razor is listed as new, unless it is a Dovo, Boker, Thiers-Issard, ect., from a reputable vendor, more than likely it's from China. They do make nice looking scales, but the steel is usually crap and impossible to get an edge that will shave. This is not just my opinion, but also my experience.

Yes, I have taken a chance on a few, thinking, "if the blade is no good I can always use the scales with another blade", and I have done that. In the past, this type of razor is usually a little cheaper than $15.99.

Odds are it wont be a good shaver, but you could take a chance if you wish. I wouldn't!

First, of all welcome to SRP

Second, if you're considering this as a first razor I would say most emphatically NOT. If it's going to shave at all chances are it's going to take a lot of work on the hones to get it ready, and you just don't want that. Look in the trading forums here, at Badger and Blade and The Shave Den for a vintage shave ready piece; there should be one in your price range.
The cheapies can be fun and challenging - I've got two Gold Dollars and a Selective that see a fair amount of use - but wait until you've got some hones and some experience using them.

+1 on everything said above, don't get that razor. It might be because I'm at work but I don't even see any images of the blade.

Warped scales but it's a good brand and comes shave-ready.

I , too, would urge you not to buy it. You can get a brand-new, shave-ready razor from RupRazor.com for just a few dollars more, and everyone here would agree that Ken Rup sells good stuff. Also, with Ken's razor, he'll re-hone it for you free of charge.

i did not know i could find one for about $50 on rapzors.com <sorry for the typo> im going to do that and buy is that one worth it for a practice stope? were should i look if not i was looking a little on this fourm and it seems like i should get to do that on. thanks again you help alot

Definitely, the package deal from Ken is awesome. I had a strop like that for my first few months before I got a great deal on a nice strop. Lots of guys still use them for traveling.

i just ordered a gold dollar 208 and with a life time honing you cant beat that $47 is a good price for me. ill report on how it went when i get it in about a week i guess
