Interesting - the bottom one is mine, and I bought it from SRD in December also. Looks like we got the same batch.
I can see them switching from stamped to etched, but why the rather dramatic change in tang size?

This is purely speculation, but my guess would be that the economy downturn has affected a lot of businesses, and less steel equals lower production costs. Or it could be they just felt like switching things up.
Has anyone else seen Dovo change blade blanks between models? Seems strange to me...

How about just asking the question from Dovo. They'd be in the best position to confirm/deny the whole thing.
They don't look like the same size or model to me. Saying they are 5/8 Dovo roundpoints seems kinda vague. Doesn't Dovo have like 42 models of 5/8 roundpoints?
Why does one look dramatically thinner than the other? Is that the 4/8 version of the 5/8?
Everyone:
Somehow the thin writing on the tang makes me assume the razor on the top is perhaps the older of the two. I don't mean one of the classics; rather, just older. The more pronounced print for "Dovo" on the bottom razor reflects a more modern look in graphics.

Obie, I think you're right. The top looks punched and the bottom lasered/inkstamped. Also the bottom has much more delicate features.
I think the authenticity is pretty much confirmed with what Lynn posted earlier.
