Spanish blade shape

Hey guys.
I was just wondering if anyone uses this type of blade?
I love the look of it and i hope at some point i can find one. They seem to be a rare blade shape though.
Is this true, are they harder to find?

The shape reminds me of the Sweeny Todd razor. That said it looks like the blade shape might be quite hard to strop and hone?

It's called a "point", Ben

Point Spanish - Straight Razor Place Wiki has a few. They are a bit rare, indeed. The most readily available model would probably be the Dovo "Bergischer Löwe" 5/8 - Straight Razor Place Wiki. Wacker also has a few.

do you mean the spanish point? there's no difference in stropping or honing.
i like them and have a few, planning to get even more.
they are typically found on old sheffield razors, and a small number of modern razors. the bergischer lowe dovo has sort of a spanish point and so do some wackers and some current grinds friodurs.
i just got some razors back from max and there are at least three old sheffields with spanish points. i'll put up pictures in the next few days.

I was just looking at this:

And saw the one with spanish next to it. Looks like a very elegant blade.
Quite fancy trying to find an old one with the same style blade as in the picture.
Never seen one on ebay though. Dont think there is any in the classifieds either.

I have a Wacker with a Spanish point. Its no different to hone or to strop than a round point. But I agree, they do look great!

Check out Shaving Shop, as John sells Wackers there and there are some real beauties! If you're hanging on for a classic, good luck with the search!

Wicked looking aren't they ? They are my favorite point to look at. Shaving with them is no different. If I had a beard or a goatee I imagine that they would be ideal for detailing around the growth. As far as shaving with them, just as with any straight razor, I am conscious of where the point is at all times.

That was made by forum member Joe Chandler out of Louisiana. He can make one heck of a razor and he is very imaginative while remaining traditional. Straight Razor Designs gets his stuff from time to time and usually sells out in a hurry.
