Thanks for the info guys. She still has the wet stone too, It says Bay state on it across the top.

The Bay State hone is a new one on me but typical in size, shape and style to what we call a 'barber hone.' They are usually very effective, in practiced hands, at maintaining a shaving edge on a sharp razor. If that was my grandfather's, and I wasn't proficient at honing, I would send it to Lynn Abrams or one of the other honemeisters in the SRP classifieds here.
