    The book I have show dates of operartion from 1904-1967 but I would also guess in the 20's-30's from the scale and razor designs...

    They are great shavers, I own one myself

    Where do i look for such references? ie if i',m interested in the history of any particular razor,,, where do I look?

    "Goins' Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings" is one of the best sources for locating manufacturers and distributors. There is also a more concise listing of manufacturers here.

    Default Wester History

    The Wester & Butz steel factory was founded in 1832 in Mersceid, a town west of Solingen, Germany and was listed there in 1925 and 1928 as an open-blade razor maker. They made the Anchor Brand Straight Edge Razor imported solely by Wester Bros New York, originally founded in 1891 as Jacoby & Wester. NYC business directories of 1908 and 1909 list Wester Brothers (Carl & Max) at148 Chambers Street, now a wine shop Chambers Street Wines A 1922 directory lists Mr. Charles Wester, Wester Brothers, 71 Murray Street and 1929 and 1931 have Wester Brothers on 250 W. Broadway.
