Really cool new RW straight razor

So, for some reason, this information is posted over at B&B but not here. The razor is so cool, I thought I'd copy the link and share it here.

Robert Williams has apparently created a new line of razors that he is selling. The razor is like a Japanese kamisori, but with the blade profile and geometry of a regular, Western straight, which means that both sides of the blade can be used for shaving. Basically, it's like a very minimalist, well-balanced Williams razor but without the scales to get in the way.

Anyway, I had to order one, and it looks like there's still a few left on Robert's website, so if anyone is interested, they are available.

Yep, heres the thread.

Definately a cool razor, and is a great blend of Eastern and Western styles!

I definitely will, although it's not supposed to be ready for 60-90 days. Hopefully I will win the lottery between now and then!

Also, I just noticed that you are located in Taipei! Such a great city!! I travel there once in a while for business, but not as often as I like. Anyway, glad to see that you are on this site, and I hope I get to hear more about what you do in Taiwan.

Haha.. sorry really bored at work today so a little bit quicker on the draw than usual.

JeffE those are really nice looking razors. Now if I could only sell a kidney on ebay I would be all set. :p

Try www.customstraightrazors.com. I just went there, and it's working. Also, I don't mean to be "pushing" someone's products here, so please don't take the thread the wrong way. I was actually kind of surprised that RW had any of these still available, given that he's only making a limited number, so I only wanted to share the good news with my brothers here.

I wonder if anyone here has tried it?

It's just so different it would be nice to try it out before actually buying it. I wish we had a passaround, too. :boohoo:

I've placed my order, thus I am selling stuff to pay for it :) Will hopefully put up an ad for an NOS Thuri from Kees, and a Fil #14 DT over the weekend.

I have a very similiar RW razor, but with a Micarta Scale. Overall, the entire blade looks very similiar and it is a full hollow grind.

Awesome shaver! It came looking like a first class straight razor and shaved like one. It was a little wider than my other 7/8 razors and the metal felt a little different during the shave.

You are treating yourself to something special when you order one of these.

I was banned for life for having the audacity to disagree with the California baby about the quality of Wacker razors - so don't feel alone. many of our finest members are banned there. That is kind of ironic since the California baby started B&B because he was banned from all three forums that existed about five years ago - for being a horse’s patute.:rant:
