I know it's a shocking concept to most of us however back in the day new razors were expected to be totally shave ready right out of the box and if they weren't that was considered a manufacturers defect and most would return it.

Well, you took a chance that I wouldn't have & it paid off! Congrats & kudos on the size of your balls!
My dear Dllandry:
That is a sparkling razor worthy of an Oscar. Well done.

Dllandry, I am happy for your good luck! You took the chance and scored a fantastic razor. I hope the shave is as memorable as the appearance of your lucky Duck!
So that's what they look like with the gold on the shank intact. Very nice. Thanks for posting that and enjoy your find.
The only coment I can make is...Holy Sh*t!
beautiful scales.

Nice. I do not have any DD's in my collection. I have had the opportunity to hone a few and find them to be a very good shaving razor. If it were not for the price, I am sure I would have a couple. The blades are very hollow ground. Take care as it would not take much to break. Same with honing, a very light touch is needed.
Enjoy it, and please, please, do not use metal polish on the gold. You will scrub it right off with something like MAAS. Same with gun blue. I use an old silicone gun cloth to wipe them after a shave to keep the rust away.
