The One That Got Away
Razors come and go in this hobby, but once in a while, there is one you regret letting go. For me, it is this CV Heljestrand 31 in original ivory scales. It would have been an easy restore for one of our restoration guys.
As frequently happens in this hobby, it got sold along with other razors when I had a chance at a nice Takeda, and those don't come along often, either. I sold it because I had another one, restored and rescaled by Josh, and foolishly thought two would be superfluous. But since, I have gotten around to keeping pairs of the handful that have become favorites. Just in case a great flood comes along.
Anyway, let's hear your story of the one you regret selling/giving away. Nostalgic pictures are welcome, too.Last edited by RayG; 06-04-2010 at 07:38 PM.

Thanked: 1903Puma 89 "Special" 6/8. I've been looking for one ever since (including WTB ads in every available forum). It's been two and a half years now.

A while back I sold a beautiful Case Temperite quarter hollow in those clear celluloid scales. At the time I was limiting my number of razors rather strictly and I already had a Case Red Imp 132 - nearly identical. I wish I had that Temperite still, cause they seem to be quite rare.

In a fit of good cheer I donated a Clauss 6/8ths for one of the monthly giveaways. That razor shaved as well as my Puma Gold.
There are a few others, but that Clauss haunts me.

In '06 I was getting out of collecting straigts and related stuff. I sold three Belgian coticules that I had had for 20 years.
I also sold a stub tail stamped Greaves ( no & sons) with Sheaf Works pressed into the scales and a minty dubl duck Special # 1 with a 6/8 square point blade. Still had blue on the tang and maybe the spine IIRC.
Edit; that would be 2006..... not 1906Last edited by JimmyHAD; 06-04-2010 at 08:25 PM. Reason: more useless drivel
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
