I found a website that does bespoke TI razors based out of the Uk does anyone have experience dealing with this vendor?
Home
It's a site owned by Steve Dempster who posts here as Blueprinciple. My dealings with him have always been more than satisfactory. In my experience I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone interested in anything he offers on any of his sites.
Congrats on the wedding! :beer1:
A singing razor is extra full hollow, and a good example of this sort of razor would be a Dovo Prima Klang.
I must admit, reading your post one razor did pop into my mind as a clear winner..! That TI is a real beauty, with white bone scales and a mirror finish. Definately a great razor for a special occasion!
Its not an extra full hollow, its a half hollow, but its a tremendous shaver and just glides through the hairs like they werent there. I'd really recommend it!
I bought this exact razor from Steve via the site I linked and it came extremely shave ready. Steve is also a true gent and is very helpful if you have any questions.
Good luck and keep us posted!
You might want to check with Scott to see if he has the Dovo 6/8 Bone handled Bismarck. Great shaver and it has a little plate on the scale where you could engrave something.
Congrats!
Lynn
Thanks for all the links and help guys!
I sent steve and email so hopefully I get some good news back from him. If not I have plenty other places to look at thanks!!
howdy guys
So i have been thinking about what scale type i would like.
i was wondering if anyone could tell me the advantages or disadvantages of each scale material?
does one require more upkeep than the other?
As long as you keep them dry and clean it doesnt really matter what you get.
Just go with whatever catches your eye, and then look after it is probably the best advice..!
Porous materials like wood and bone will stain and absorb fluids more easily than plastics and metals, but I've not had a problem with any of mine. As I say, just keep them dry and clean and you shouldnt have any problems!
Since you ARE getting married, and this will be the last razor you will be allowed to purchase :D, why not get a set? Yeah, that's it, how about a nice Dovo Bismark 7 day set with white bone handles?
BTW - I'm with Lynn on the Dovo Bismark in Bone. That is one fine shaver and they are really beautiful.
I just watched a video on how the Dovo razors are made, I was pretty impressed at all of the handwork that goes into making a quality straight razor. I already liked my Dovo, now I can see why it shaves so great.:)
