Nice Safe Recipe For Rust Prevention
I have used camellia oil for many years for protecting metal but if left on too long it oxidizes and stains. Mineral oil works but it has problems sticking evenly to highly polished metal. I decided to try a mixture of beeswax and mineral oil and it sticks evenly and does not oxidize.
To make it all you need to is to gently warm up some mineral oil and add a few small chunks of beeswax melt and mix. The mixture comes out cloudy and settles a little but a shake or two before use is all you need. It coats the shiniest of metals and does not seperate on the surface of the metal like pure mineral oil would do and offers great safe non toxic protection. Also, it wipes off very easily. I did not meaure anything when I made it but not much beeswax at all in relation to the oil.
