It tells you manufacturer information, & provides you with the ability to age it to some extent, or are you merely interested in its value?

I put an ad up on Craigslist a few months ago about wanting to buy straights, strops, and stones.

I get people sending me these horrible emails with just terrible pics wanting to know how much it is worth? Most pics are so horrible that I would not be able to tell if their was a significant chip in it.

It has been worth it in a few instances where I have made some really nice scores for dirt cheap though

Razors don't have serial numbers on them and there are no detailed databases on them so unless you have an individual who is a dedicated collector of a brand you are interested in there really isn't that much you are going to find out.

I can tell you that if it is in reasonably good condition it can be cleaned up, honed to a shave ready edge and will make a great shaver. That outfit made some good razors.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Unfortunately this is not an appraisal place, but the value generally depends on many factors.
Seek a professional service, or you can find what similar razors sell for on ebay.
