walks like a duck

So another razor showed up at the house today, and it came with the orig box. The box said 5/8 round point dd goldedge,it looked a little bigger than 5/8. And after putting the blade on the ruler it measured 6/8!! Do the folks at Dubl Duck measure their blades a diff way??? Or the 6/8 was in a random box that said 5/8. Anyway I perfer the larger steel!! thanks

Are you sure it's the original box? It's possible it got re-boxed years ago.

Who knows if its the orig box. But a 5/8 is a 5/8 and a 6/8 is a 6/8 correct?

FWW, I have been hearing from some razor folks that I know that many of the DDs are made a little bit more than the nominal size so +1/16th isn't out of line.

Yes, but someone down the line might have put a 6/8 GoldEdge into a 5/8 box.

How did you measure it ? Top of spine to edge is always larger than the actual size.
Measure from the hone wear to edge you will get a more accurate reading but yeah 1/8 is on the large side.

Yes i measured it from the top of the spine to the sharp edge

Yeah. My 6/8 Puma is 13/16 when measured like that

I just assumed you measured the whole width of the blade, thanks

I have found that most razors I've come across are 1/16 to 1/8 larger than the size written on them.

I don't know why, but this seems to be a general trend. I seem to recall John Crowley asked Mr Wacker about it and Wacker said there was a unit of measure which was not inches that was used in the production of razors. I'll search and see if I can find it.
