Thanked: 1New 5/8
I just received my dovo best quality 5/8 from SRD yesterday. This is my second razor, my first being a 6/8. I was surprised at how much smaller it was. I didn't think an eighth of an inch would be very noticeable, but it is. Not only the blade size, but everything about it feels so dainty. It makes sense, because of the geometry, the shorter distance from the edge to spine necessitates a thinner spine and therefore a thinner tang, smaller scales, etc. At least I think that's how it works. I just didn't think about that aspect when I bought it. I wasn't thinking three dimensionally. Anyway, it's a whole different feel when stropping and shaving, but I think I can see it's benefits. Maybe it's just me, but it seemed that it could maneuver any hollows in my neck better. On the other hand, my fingers seemed to get in the way more. I'm sure that as I get used to it, I'll get better at using this smaller blade. I'm glad to have more variety in the morning and look forward to acquainting myself with my new razor.
Any other benefits to a smaller blade that I can look forward to?
Thanks,
Ken
