I think they stopped production in the 70's.
C-Mon is actually an importer. I don't know if thats why The maker is not on there or not.
The Filly C-Mon was a special production by Filly to be distributed by C-Mon. They are identical to ordinary Filly's but are EXTREMELY rare, hard to come buy and expensive.
Actually the way I understand it Carl Monkhouse had razors made marked C-Mon as well as some other brands. Peter J. Michaels was the US importer until Mr. Monkhouse moved to the USA and opened a manufacturing facility in Ellicottville, NY. IIRC they are still made there today albeit not up to the quality of the earlier production which was superlative IME. I could be wrong, I was wrong once before.
As to the C-Mon/Filly, I don't know what the deal on that was. I guess Carl Monkhouse had Filarmonica make a run of them. I've seen a couple of others so marked besides the one I was lucky enough to score at a reasonable price.
Well that was sure a fine example posted.
I got this one from someone on B&B and it is a Doble Temple#13 (according to the box) however it a large 7/8ths so I was kind of surprised when I got it.
The box says Sello de Oro but it isn't the same one as the one that was sold by classicshaving. The person who sold it to me said it was NOS but it could also be that it was placed in the wrong box or something.
the tang is unmarked and doesn't say Fabricacion en espana or Filarmonica or Jose Montserrat Pou.
There is no question its a genuine filly- i don't think its worth the effort to make fake ones.. and the shave is definately a Filly but I have often wondered to myself what is the story behind these ones with unmarked tangs.
PS. the photos aren't mine but from the person I bought it from.
I have a C - Mon No 747. Are we saying that stands for Carl Monkhouse and that they are somewhat rare? any ideas as to when they were made?
Any other information will be gladly received, read and absorbed into my memory bank.
