My number is zero as of now! The trouble is the month isn't over and I already followed few links that were posted here.

$1k :D at least its less than the month before :)
got 11 dubl ducks, two fillys and some others
Well, how much I've spent in the last month (I assume 1 month = 30 days) it's difficult to estimate, because it's been so much, I've lost track.
Mmmm...I'm guessing around $5K. Maybe more, maybe less.
A boat load of razors for both shaving, as well as the razors that will go into the display case I'm working on.
A complete set of Nortons, Naniwas, 2 coticules, and 2 J-nats.
A 60X-2000X microscope with 5 mp camera.
Several badger brushes, as well as a lot of soaps, creams, aftershave, and cologne.
And a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember. (I already have my shop set up, though, so no shop tooling. Mmmm...I spent over $50K on my machine shop, so it's already pretty well equiped).
It's been expensive, but I've had a LOT of fun slicing and dicing my face! (I've come to the conclusion that I'm REALLY masochistic! I've never had so much fun watching myself bleed.).
Mikael has since perked my interest in Cuban cigars. It looks like that is going to be really expensive!! (At least razors and their accessories don't go "up in smoke").

you have a problem lol RAD, HAD and BAD at the same time is not good.
Well, I guess that's true. Lol! But, I'm single, no kids, and retired; and I'm not going to be able to "take it with me." If I had a family, I'm sure my choices would have been very different.

about 120 usd. This is not all me though. My aniversary was the ninth and my birthday was the eleventh so i suppose that might give a little explanation on why ive went a bit over budget this month. Its usually about 20 usdish tho.
I've just graduated to full-time straight shaving, after years of only doing it on weekends when I had time to clumsy around with my subpar razors.
OK, this might include October too, but it's been the same "purchasing cycle."
New SS Dovo with ebony scales
Lynn's DVD
DMT 325 hone
Brush stand
Norton 4k/8k hone
Spyderco UF hone
Antique-store Carbo-Magnetic
The total? A chunk.
The experience? Priceless.
I've got a nice collection of hones (including a Coticule) from previous life and family trickledown. But I am drawn to hones like Kubrick's monkeys to the monolith. Help, help me!
But what did I save?
I may be justifying, like my wife used to about shoe sales, but I get money back.
I'll spend money on what interests me. I've spent my share of cash on other projects, mostly bikes.
I love the relatively smaller dollars, and project size of a razor. Spending four hours on a razor is far Le$$ than spending four hours on a motor.
My glass is more than half full.
Doesn't matter what I'm doing, If I'm to fill out a spread sheet for what I 'spend'....then time for a new hobby.
I haven't spent a dime. Use the same 2 razors I always use. Didn't buy any new soap or aftershave or anything like that.
I'm about to invest in another hone though (4k/8k), a nose hair trimmer, and another bottle of aftershave, which will run about 100 bucks. Most of that is the hone though (75). The aftershave will last me 5-6 months, and the nose hair trimmer is long overdue and should last a lifetime just like my razors.
Wow. You just caught me in a bad month.
Every month for the last half year or so it was 0$.
And next months it will be 0$ as well. Usually I even come out ahead because I sell the occasional razor.
This month, Jimmy kindly agreed to sell me his Lancet point for an undisclosed amount :w
Granted, it was not near mint and had some hone wear near the point (The point was not perfectly round anymore) and the heel. And the spine has water damage on top...
But we're still talking about a Lancet of course :) so...
And it is the most wicked, kewlest razor I've ever held.
However, my quest for a Lancet is not over yet. I would still very much like to own one in good condition as well, with little hone wear, no water damage and the toe intact. So while I have no ADs at all, the Lancet is always having like a sword of Damocles over my paypal account :rofl2:
20 bucks for a natural combo coticule/bbw
wooo
$13 plus $5.24 shipping for a cake of MWF. That's the first shaving related purchase I've made in months.
I spent $30 in an antique shop recently for a Wade & Butcher straight, a gold plated Gillette Tech, and a Gillette Travel Tech in a leather case (looks unused). Also bought a Vulfix 404 Boar/Badger mix brush from Bullgoose for $25. First stuff I've bought in years, & don't plan on buying anything else very soon.
$225. Got these. I feel like I won the lottery. :)
Hmmm, let's see, $5 for a Arkansas stone, $13 for a barber's hone, and $19 for a poor man's strop kit which are on the way. I'm really looking forward to getting this stuff so I can hone my Filharmonica #13 and finally start str8 shaving!!! :D

Spent about $650 on some Japanese straights to try out.
I am in selling mode more than buying and sold about 8 already and have 8 more that I'm thinking of selling.
this month Ive havnt spent a penny .....I hope to keep it that way Im doin my best NOT to buy anymore shaving related goods especially no more straights to add to 25 or so I already own ..Im tryin my best to get on top of my RAD its been crippling me financially since it begun ..its an up hill struggle daily
This month? Tabac SS $15
Cacharel SS $49
Pat. 1912 Eveready SE $7
Pat 1914 Eveready SE $6

ummm... http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/1091079902_invkP-O.png
well, not the last month. but the last few months? ummm... $2000 or so.
Just ordered a a 6/8 Kamisori today. Been wanting to try one of those ever since I first found rasurpur.de.
Figure I'll have paid for them all with savings from not having to buy those Gillette Fusion razors. At $2.85 per cartridge, changing it once every seven days, it'll only be 702 weeks before I start to break even. Ummm... that's, uh, thirteen and a half years. Let's just say that I'll break even before I turn 60.
I know, I *am* a wise and savvy financial genius.
:rofl2:
Nary a penny spent on shaving this month! I've been inundated with soap samples though, with more on its way... :)
a couple months ago I would have been affraid to answer, but the last two months has seen no $$ out pouring :) and untill I whittle down my excess I'm not looking for more stuff...
i spent about $300 in the last 7 days :D just when i paid off my credit card too. might have to start selling some razors :(
$10 - and that is the first I have spent in a while, since usually I use an electric. I never get a satisfactory shave from it though, and am starting my transition to a straight razor. I bought my last disposable, and one package of refills.
I figure I can start with a nice brush, soap and bowl combo, then work into a razor as I get used to shaving with a razor again. Rather than buy used, I am thinking I'll buy a nice new razor and send it to one of the gents here to get it ready for me.
I believe in the 'buy once, cry once' creed and would prefer to save up for a quality item than buying cheaper stuff and not being happy with it.
Thank you all for this tremendous resource.
Ron

This month I spent $118 on a yellow coticule...and Christmas is just around the coner, so it would be another razor that will be added to the herd.
About $120; Wish't I were rich!
Two 40mmx195mm Coticules, two slurry stones, six decent straights, a few old brushes, six old mugs/scuttles, about fifteen decent, little cleaning required, Gillette/EverReady/Gem, two good strops, assorted vintage blades/packs, and a few old soaps for trade. Month is not yet over.
And.. yes I am retired on antisocial insecurity, living alone!
Respectfully
~Richard
This month: 4 soaps at USD 9- each (+S&H to Norway).
Hey Ron,
Just a note regarding my own experience.
You do yourself a great disservice if you think buying a more inexpensive razor off the classifieds as being inferior to new manufacture. The guys doing restoration take tremendous pride in their work, and it shows in the quality of the stuff they sell.
Most my shavers fall into the $40-$60 range of restored vintage razors from the classifieds. I do buy some that are more expensive, but these I plan to put into a display rather than shave with them (whenever I mention this the reply I ALWAYS get is, "NO, no! You HAVE to shave with it!" Lol! Well, maybe...).
I've even had a few that I bought for around $50 and they looked so nice that I wanted to put them on display! (They may not cost that much, but DAMN they're pretty!).
My favorite shaver right now is a Wade & Butcher near wedge that I bought from HNSB for $40. It shaves GREAT! As I'm gravitating toward near wedges, I bought 2 more this weekend from Sham for a total of $110 (average price of $55 each). That's 3 shavers for a total cost of $150.
That's the nice thing about ordering off the classifieds--you can order different steels, grinds, etc., for a low cost and find out what you like best. If you dump a lot of money into one razor, then you have one, and will never know if a different grind, steel, etc., is more friendly to your face; as well as whether of not a different kind of razor would be easier to handle and shave with.
I don't mean to discourage you from buying an expensive razor that you have your heart set on! Buy whatever is going to make you happy! But, don't assume that because it's a new manufacture it's somehow better. The first razor I bought was a Dovo "Best Quality" for $85 that had a warped blade. It's JUNK!! Period, end of story!
Just because a restored vintage razor is inexpensive, that doesn't mean that it's somehow it's cheap, inferior, etc., to a current manufactured one that's more expensive.
And, if a razor offered for sale on the classifieds has any issues, typically it's pointed out in the ad.
Moreover, a lot of guys selling on the classifieds give a money back guarantee. If you don't like it, send it back. (Stimpy52 always offers you a refund, plus $5 if he's misrepresented the razor! How can you beat that???).
Well, I can see I've posted another essay. (Sorry to the board on the thread drift).

Metal, fasteners, bearings, wheels, motor, belts, etc....$1100 (roughly)
Making your own razors....I'm not sure yet. Gonna have to ruin some perfectly good steel first :D
Oh, and I sent a Thistle to Glen to get fitted with a new pair of shoes.
I been a bad, bad boy this month. Thankfully my beautiful girlfriend is not a SWMBO yet...
Mark
I haven't kept track, there's some new old straights, a coticule, various after shaves, soaps. Couple hundred for sure. I probably have averaged 200 monthly since I started straight razor shaving, which was going to be cheaper than cartridges and a spray can of Barbasol...yeah right.:rofl2:
Nada....I keep losing the auctions.
