I remember hearing that they are Pakistani in origin and pretty much only worth buying for the scales. Poor shavers that do not hold an edge. I think I recall hearing they come in both bone and horn and obviously, looking at the picture, an acrylic material also.

I doubt they are worth it for the scales either, unless you want to entirely re-work them. And at that point, you may as well just buy the raw material yourself.

For example, I bet they have flat wedges...

They really look very clumsily ground don't they? Check out how big and chunky the tang is on those suckers! The shape of the heel..... generally the entire piece of steel is all less than average.

That pattern welded steel looks kind of ok though.

    Probably intricately painted on.

Maybe if one played around with a bit of a re-tempering and re-grind on them they could morph into something usable. Maybe.

Maybe Seraphim, the King of turning dodgey into possibly OK, has already given it a shot?

Good call on the tail and tang. I contacted a guy who sold "damascus" "razors" on ebay and he sent me one to play with, free of charge. One characteristc of it was that the tang/tail area was not tapered at all - it was as thick as the spine. This meant that the razor would never snug up in the scales.

Also the scales were not well done, the fit and finish was poor, the grind was off, and the razor did not hold an edge. I did a writeup of it somewhere...

NOTE this was not a Jacob's razor, so maybe they are different.
