Looks very Sheffield to me, 1850 give or take a few, my opinion.... seems like a retailer, eventually somebody will come up with something.

I did look at the Macy's history, didn't find any evidence that the company used R. M. & co , need to investigate further, thinking a very long shot, my opinion of course.
Seems like if Macy's did sell these razors at one point there would be more of them around. But i don't dismiss the idea yet...
That does make sense Martin. I'm still looking as well but nothing comes up. It was most likely a retailer in the 19th century.
Yep, I'm looking right now & came to a couple of pages that mention R M & Co but they want ya to start a free trial which means they want credit caed or debit card information.................
A reproduction of the original store in Haverhill, Ma, looks like the name was R. H. Macy Dry Goods.

Well Thanks for that, Martin! I never did come across that picture! I did see where as Rowland left Robert in Haverhill to go to NYC, he named his new store RH Macy @ Co. I got an impression his brother, Robert was established there even while Rowland had 2 failed attempts in the town, went out to the gold fields, returned a year later to work with Robert.
It is the establishment of Robert Macy which makes me curious.
It's still a chance Tom.......................more digging'. I love it when one doesn't give up!
