i've honed a razor like that before the trick is to use a diamond hone up in till you reach the very edge then switch over to your regular hone progression:)

I agree that the scales are not original. I had one similar that was scaled in bone with a lead spacer which was a great little shaver.
It will be tough to hone I imagine. Wedges are just generally, because you have to remove that much more steel to get the edge right, but she'll be a great shaver when she's done.
Thanks all for the comments and feedback. Its tough, I will some day start the learning to hone business but I don't think this will be the one I learn on.
The antique store that has it doesn't really have a clue about razors and their sticker prices I don't think fall in line (even close) to what I am willing to pay.
With that said everyone, I'm sure, likes to bargain a little ;) and with a wink and a nudge, who knows what may happen.
