Full Wedge
Well I've been very content with my Prima Klang as my only razor for some time but have the bug to expand my collection. I'm in no rush to purchase but keeping my eye out for a deal or something nice. This wedge caught my eye but I don't know quite enough to make truly shave ready. I am in it for practicality versus true collector's razors. Here are some pics from my iphone, not the greatest but hopefully a start for some basic feedback.
PS. Not sure if the case matches the razor as I couldn't make out the name on the tang. But its there anyhow.

Probably a Sheffield razor. Definitely not a Boker. Scales may not be original and be taken from a younger Solingen. It seems to have a very thick spine. It seems it can shave for 100 more years if restored and kept well.

Scales are definitely not original; that material didn't exsit at the time that razor was made. She would have most likely been in horn or something of the like.
A nice old razor, very close to a full wedge. She'll probably be a bear to hone up, but, IMO, fully worth it.

Thanked: 3795It may be a petty point, but as Holli alluded, it is not a full wedge.

Interesting. I was a little skeptical about the dark spot in picture (3) but since its not on / near the edge I thought it was workable.
Without disclosing the "sticker" price (in which I question because they had 8 or 9 razors in various states of dis-repair and they were all tagged the same, what would be a good starting point for negotiation?

Thanked: 3795Sorry, we aren't allowed to venture into the realm of appraisals, which is what you are asking.

I kind of knew that. Value is such a hard thing as what is worth to me may not be worth anything to another.
So I will hold my head up high and venture forth to see what she would be willing to take.

Thanked: 70Tang says "Concave Razor" with a crown and something above it.
It's certainly not original, but for practicality, I'd pick it up.

see the big flats of the bevel and the spine wear - a bit more honing and they can meet and it would be a perfect wedge razor.
i'd suggest before buying it to find somebody who would be willing to hone it and get the price quote for this. i know if i would be honing for money it'll cost you a lot for me to work on it and i'd still like to be paid even if the steel turns out to be rotten and won't shave.
until you can hone yourself and can afford to waste the time on a razor it is a really bad gambling to purchase unrestored and unhoned razors.
