What is a 1/1 grind razor, an Extra "singing"?
Just wondering on the nomenclature of a 1/1 razor, and if they are considered an Extra Hollow Gound razor? Reason is this link:
Messer der Woche I'm not that good with German. There is also a Revisor 5/8 Extra Hollow I am looking at (for future purchase), and it too, is listed as 1/1 hohl.~~ Vern ~~

1/1 means full hollow. How full you'll have to ask the people who use that notation. I very much doubt it distinguishes between extra hollows and not extra hollows.
So far I haven't found any exact mathematical definition for these.

I thought the Henckel scale was a mathematical or at least a definition of a hollow's extent. 10 on the scale is extra hollow.

I don't think so. The only thing I've seen about it is profile drawings with corresponding labels in the form of roman numerals. There's nothing that defines a hollowing fraction in terms of the dimensions of the grinding wheels, and the blade width. Originally Posted by Scipio

AFAIK there is not a standardized definition for Extra, Full & Half hollow grinds. It seems to vary with the mfg.

Well, this link: Messer der Woche shows another brand with that same designation. So, it may be more German language, rather than specifically Henckel scale.
And this link shows a Revisor with that same designation in the description, but it actually say's "Extra Hollow Ground" right on the blade. LINK: http://www.revisor-solingen.de/html/5_8_25.html~~ Vern ~~
