Hello,
I came across this razor and I am wondering what difference this kind of a grind makes to the way a razor shaves VS one that has one or two stabilizers ?
Is this consdered to be a shoulderless grind or is it some other variation ?

I would call that a shoulderless grind. I myself cannot feel the difference between a razor with stabilizers vs a shoulderless razor, though in theory I would expect a shoulderless to have a bit more flex. That would, of course, be dependent on the hollow grinding (and size, steel, HT, etc etc) as well as the shoulder.
I concur with Ivan, shoulderless.
As to how it shaves, that is an unknown. The shoulderness configuration is only the beginning. Is it full hollow, half hollow, quarter hollow? Is the blade 4/8ths, 5/8ths, 6/8ths, 7/8ths?
I personally tend to favor larger heavy full hollow razors, so the blade grind is more important to me than the shouldeless aspect.
I've found no real difference in shoulderless vs. stabilized configurations in the blades I prefer.
That is a nice looking blade. Too small for me though.

More than likely yours will be fine and it is more of an issue with 6\8 blades FME.
I have a 5/8 Henckels 113 that is shaped almost exactly the same. Mine has a slight curve to the spine/edge. The blade is a half hollow so it still has some rigidity to it. To be honest, I'm a Sheffield guy. But that Henckels is in my top 5 for best shave. Aside from function, it's a beautiful blade full of classic character.

Interesting, mine actually isn't a Friodur. It's a Twinworks that was sold by Graef & Schmidt, NY in the 40's. Yours is most likely the stainless version of mine. Separated at birth perhaps! I'm willing to bet that the 1/2 stamp applies to the hollow of the blade. I've shaved with plenty of straights, and I have never used a razor this small that is actually as enjoyable as this.Quote:
