No tail ?

Interesting razor for sure.

I have seen a couple of tail-less razors, but yours is the first one with a shoulder-less grind. The others are more of a wedge grind.

+1 I'm with Jimmy on this one. It looks like the grind of the razor is later than the style of the scales and that the razor was modified to work with the scales. The tail might have been ground off and properly finished to not leave a trace. The scales are beautiful! It would be great to get a blade from the era of the scales and match the two up but it is also nice as it is. Someone must have liked the razor enough to have it put into those scales. There's always a chance that this was made this way, an older style scales with a more modern blade geometry.

I think the razor was made like that and it is French.

I got a box of older razors from France once, and quite a lot of them had no tail, so it must have been quite a common thing over there.

I did sent razor to test and this is the result.
American standard 18 k gold everything including washers.(not blade)
European standard 750
i wasn't expecting this. i am kinda a happy.

Wow. Gotta be a display piece then...something made special for some Duke or somebody back in France.
