I use a beat up griffon for cutting the patch material before raming that 45 caliber round ball down the barrel of my flintlock, works great !!
when I cant find my cigar cutter I use an old pakistani to notch a v in the end of one....that way I at least get some use out of it.
nearly cried though when I saw a post on a knife makeing forum about turning old straight razors into wood carveing knives...sacriligous bast**ds
Apart from shaving I have used a straight-razor to...
...pick apart stitching on a piece of clothing.
...slice open packaging on stuff that was vacuum-sealed in plastic.
...cut string.
Years ago, when I was young I used my Ucle warren's staight to skin a badger I killed. If I remember, he was not totally pleased with that. He had to hone it and strop it all over again.
I took my Zeepk Pakistani razor (paid a penny for it) and dulled down the edge and used it for a practice razor. I have only been shaving with a sraight about 6 weeks and shave every night and never get a nick nor cut. It let me practice form, technique, and ideas so that when I had the "real McCoy" things went well.
