    Default Revisor-Revisor-GOTTA arrived today

USPS delivered a package from Thomas Kronenberg, Solingen Germany today. It contained 2 Revisors, and one GOTTA 120. The top Revisor is a replacement that Thomas sent me for nominal charge for the mix up of the order of the one I had ordered recently. I was supposed to get a Green one and ended up with Blue. This top one is Green.

Second down is a Revisor Extra Hollow Ground 5/8.. they are all 5/8 BTW. On the Left side it says Revisor on the tang. On the Right side it says C. Friedr. Schmidt Solingen with a Puma on a branch. This is one of the earlier original Revisor markings.

Third down is a GOTTA made by Grah & Plumacher. Brand new, including box! Hamburg Ring and Super Fine on the blade. 120 on the tang along with the name.

Jimps on top and bottom on this one.

    Better picture from Revisor....

Revisors "much" better picture than the one I took tonight of the 5-0002 model with the Green paint and Gold wash....

    And the GOTTA...

Jimps on top on the GOTTA.

I shaved tonight with the Blue Extra Hollow 5-0027 and the GOTTA. The GOTTA won hands down at the moment over the Revisor. That is one of the sharpest, smoothest shaves I have ever gotten! I would be hard pressed to improve on the edge with honing. The Revisor "Extra Hollow" 5-0027 model though, I think it could use just a touch up on the hones and try again. It was shave ready in that I could shave with it, but there was a bit more pull with it than the GOTTA. Also even though it shaved close, the GOTTA came back in and picked up things. I would swear that the GOTTA was more extra hollow than Full Hollow, but then I could be imagining it as well. Both are ground extremely thin for a long duration of the blade.

Impressive to say the least. Next will try the Green Revisor, 5-0002 for shave.

Thanks Jimmy, when I visited with Thomas about getting another razor he had mentioned in an email a discount since he messed up and sent me the wrong color I had originally had on the invoice. I figured it would cost less to buy 2 now and combine the shipping as that is kind of what drives the prices up on these razors from Germany. Well, he felt bad about the blue razor and that it had flaked off a bit on the paint and sent me an offer I couldn't refuse. Discount on the 2 razors, the GOTTA, and Revisor Extra Hollow and sent along the green painted one for free. I couldn't get into paypal quick enough!! Only other great deal of a great shaver 5/8 is the Imperial razor I got from a guy selling off his Father's Estate (who collected razors) and the son is a wine connoisseur. I gave him a bottle of Ice Wine and he shipped me this Imperial... NEW. Never been honed, bright shining, and after I honed it and stropped it, it was a TERRIFFIC shaver. I've shaved with it 3 times now and every time, a great shave, no nicks and smooth cutting. Must be getting my honing down a bit better as well.. THANKS to all of you.

Ya have to admit, you don't run across a GOTTA in this kind of shape on eBay... like NEW shape. I was the first to strop and shave with it tonight. She's my baby!!

Now I need to get a GOTTA signature on the bottom.. LOL

That extra hollow revisor with the blue scales is sweet, seen it on their website. Too bad it didn't shave that great the first time out. You'll have to give us an update after you hone it a bit.

Very nice. So you have the green AND blue Revisor now? Or was the one you exchanged different from the blue razor in the photos?

Either way, I hope they shave just as good as they look!
