well i had intially posted a question regarding the maker. And someone suggested that it was pre-civil war. And that is what the seller/restorer of the blade said as well.
I tried scooping on gig and didnt find anything. And hence my post on the forums. Is heavy. My first move frm a 5/8 to a 9/8. skipped a few in middle. But started liking heavier ones..so now lookin for some 7/8 and 8/8's.
Its nice to own a piece of history. Have a 40000 yr old mammoth tusk scale dovo too ^_^ ... unfortunately it is mixed with something to keep it a shinny and 'newish' look. Would have been awwsome if it was just bare tusk.

A lot of sellers seem to reference the Civil War, which I think is to market the razors to reenactors. Regardless, there was "pre-Civil War" for the rest of the world too, not just the US. As far as I know, Savages were made for a few years during the 1840's in Sheffield. So saying pre-Civil War is correct, but they are not related to the war, or even the US, in any way that I know of.
