Very nice razor. Welcome to my world of RAD! :)
That is a fine razor:)
In fact, it was the very first I ever bought.
Around 100 razors later, it is still in my rotation.
Good stuff, congratulations on a beautiful razor!
thanks yall!
I think it was probably the second or third razor I bought. It gives a wonderful shave. You just need to watch all that decoration on the blade. Don't allow it to get stained or tarnished so you don't need to worry about polishing it and removing the gold.
vvti714,
I really like the shaves from my Berg Lowe :)
Please always check under the rubber finger grip after each shave to make sure that this area is clean and dry. I treated mine with TufGlide to add further corrosion resistance.
Other than that you don't need to do anything special to it during the shave. Just make sure that the blade is free from soap residues (rinse under hot tap) and allow the blade to dry thoroughly (leave razor open for about 15 - 30 minutes) before you put the razor away. You can optionally give the blade a wipe over with a corrosion inhibitor (TufGlide, mineral oil, camelia oil etc) after it is dry.
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ
I love mine. It holds a special place in my collection as it was also the first razor I honed myself.
vvti14,
It is not removable in place; with care you can slide it sideways (to both right and left).
Some people even cut theirs off :chop:
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ
Some people remove the black rubber because over time water gets under there and there is no way to dry that area and you will get corrosion there. Of course you can't see under it so you don't realize it until some point in the future when it tears or wears and then you see it.
Hello, vvti714:
The Bergischer Lowe is a gorgeous razor, especially for the way it sets the blade's gold etching and muted silver tone against the dark cherry scales. The Spanish point puts the perfect stamp on the razor.
I found the scales a touch too heavy for the small blade, throwing the razor off balance, but I did adjust to its personality.
Before long, the thin band, what I called the blasted mustache, on the shank started slipping back and forth. It became such a nuisance that I snipped it off carefully with a small pair of scissors. Never missed it.
As you've read, keep the blade clean and dry, since trying to remove water marks or other blemishes might be a risk to the lovely etching on the blade.
Most of all, if honed properly, your new razor is a great shaver. Congratulations. Enjoy it.
Regards,
Obie
THANKS TO ALL FOR THE HELP!
I love this razor, I just wish they make the 6/8, that'll be perfect
My BergischerLowe is the first razor with which I tried a "double bevel".
It worked great. It has since been honed with a single bevel and shaves great
either way. :beer2:
I posted an other thread showing the other razor and brush i got in a bundle with this one!
I have seen thousands of razor on the internet, in my personal opinion bergischer lowe is the best looking razor I've ever seen so far. first time I see that razor I was just blown away lookin at it. to me that is art master piece in razor. only if they would just make little bit wider, I'd be happier.
yea its a bit smaller in person.. its soo expensive new! i'm glad i got a great deal on it. i play classical guitar (rock, folk, and some flamenco) so i got my thumb nail under that blasted black rubber band and ripped it off. i found a tiny bit of red rust but i wiped most of it off. i'm scared to put any fitz or polish in general because i'm scared of damaging the gold wash.. :X she is indeed a beautiful blade!
