how should i shave with it? wipe with a towel after every pass?

    vvti714,

I really like the shaves from my Berg Lowe

Please always check under the rubber finger grip after each shave to make sure that this area is clean and dry. I treated mine with TufGlide to add further corrosion resistance.

Other than that you don't need to do anything special to it during the shave. Just make sure that the blade is free from soap residues (rinse under hot tap) and allow the blade to dry thoroughly (leave razor open for about 15 - 30 minutes) before you put the razor away. You can optionally give the blade a wipe over with a corrosion inhibitor (TufGlide, mineral oil, camelia oil etc) after it is dry.

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

I love mine. It holds a special place in my collection as it was also the first razor I honed myself.

    vvti14,

It is not removable in place; with care you can slide it sideways (to both right and left).

Some people even cut theirs off

    Have fun !

    Best regards

i bought the blade off another gentleman that never removed the rubber grip, there was a little bit of red rust but not a lot. i rubbed most of it off with a paper towel. is there anyway to remove the remaining rust with out removing the gold wash?

No but you can convert it from active red to black rust with some phosphoric acid or similar. Just be careful with the rest of the razor.

You rinse or wipe as you see fit, but you need to make sure it is dried properly and IMHO oiled when you store it till then next shave

Some people remove the black rubber because over time water gets under there and there is no way to dry that area and you will get corrosion there. Of course you can't see under it so you don't realize it until some point in the future when it tears or wears and then you see it.
