Thanked: 6I'm bummed out :(
So I've been waiting forever to get my hands on a Dovo Bismarck with red scales. Earlier this week I order it from Classicshaving.com and got it in the mail today. When I opened it, I found that the top part of the pearl inlay had been peeled or torn off and that that same scale was warped. Also there wasn't a sticker on the blade face that you find with new dovo's.

Yep...Call or email them. They will exchange it for a new one that is not defective.

Thanked: 6The Dovo Bismarck Red is a discontinued line. Only Classicshaving.com has them, I wonder if they sold me the last one they had and it was one used for display or a returned item from another customer?

Thanked: 247It's ok. Every SR I own is discontinued, and I still find more just like them. Sometimes I even find brand new ones still in the box on Ebay. You'd be amazed how many of something a manufacturing plant can produce without anybody around to buy them. You may have to wait a bit if it's truly the very last one that your vendor had. But I still think you aren't doomed to a life of never having your dream razor. Just think how many NOS razors are on the bay right now from the 20's...Where have they been all these years? It's out there somewhere buddy. I promise.

I just looked at ClassicShaving and they show 9 of them in stock! DOVO Straight Razors
I'd call and arrange an exchange.
Regards,
Howard
Edit: unless that 9 red is a stock number, but it still shows in stock.

Thanked: 6I think its the stock number, its always had a "9" next to it. The reason I am so particular about this razor is that I am planning on it becoming an heirloom for my future generations.

Thanked: 1195I don't want to want to go off on a rant here (
to Dennis Miller), but don't these vendors inspect their razors before packaging them and shipping out to the customer??? Defects such as these should be very noticeable, how do they miss them? There seems to be no point in shipping defective razors when they know the customer is going to complain and exchange them anyway....
Really? When did they discontinue the red model?
I know SRD regularly stocked them. FYI - Usually when they have no stock they remove the ad rather than post an "Out of Stock" message.
