Even barbers get snookered
I wasnt sure where to put this post as it also counts as a show and tell post,BUT its a cautionary
tale also,LOOK at what your buying carfully. I thought I had hit a gold mine as I went into a small barber shop in a strip mall, not expecting much I found the place inhabited by old Italian barbers
who had a tenuious grasp on the english language,PAYDIRT I thought,Being first generation Italian
myself,I was even more pleased when I found out they were Sicialian like me.They took to me after hearing that and thanks to one of thier kids,I had my interperter right there.(I can understand much of it ,but cant speak it.) After the pleasentries,I asked the sixty-four thousand question, "do you have anything you dont use anymore and would sell?" The qnswer was yes and I was told to come back in a day or two, which I did as he said he was sure he had a stone that he had bought in the old country about forty years ago,and never used. My God I thought as pictures of a brand new Escher popped into my head, however it was not to be,The following pictures will show my haul, A brand new coti combo bout, A Henkels#70 zwillingswerk, and what at first glance looked to be a very nice although used Goldenedge that was sharp as stink. I tried to contain my self as best I could as I didnt want the price to go up with my excitement....that wasnt a problem after a minute. I looked at the Goldenedge and noticed that the box he had pulled it out of said KAMA,which isnt unusal, except that in his broken english he conveyed that that was a very good razor.....until I pointed out that the markings were ground off,and all that was left of them was a rectangle with a crown over it the same marking as on the box, It seems that he was snookered back in the old country on his last visit about 20 years according to him,and he seemed to be very upset when I pointed it out to him, however I got all three for fifty bucksand the stone was as new as he had said and has a compleatly different feel than my other coti,so Im happy but he was a little dissapointed, but the funny thing was that he used this razor for many years until they were no longer allowed and thought he was using a DD. I have one question- How good are the KAMA blades or brand for that matter,I think Ive heard of them before, and may even have one somewhere. The pictures are as good as I can get with this camers,so the close ups arent going to be as nice as I would like, but remember,If you see something you like look it over carefully as I could have bought this quickly without a proper inspection if I was trying to pay and get out of dodge as fast as I could
before someone told him that it was worth much more than he was asking. And here they are.

Congrats on a good find.
I like Kama razors a lot and I wouldn't be surprised to find that the same company made both the Kama and DD. To me they are that close. If you do a search on SRP you will find a few threads. Here are two of mine http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...tr8-razor.html - http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...kama-7-8s.html
