Thread: How can i safely store my razors in the bathroom

So, now that i've started my collection, i'd like to keep them in the best condition possible. Unfortunatly, due to living situation and my girlfriends propensity to lose or bury things that are in drawers, i have to keep them in the bathroom. I do have a shelf that is big enough for my modest collection of shaving gear and plan on storing them there. obviously they'll be exposed to moisture from the everyday showers and whatnot. So, i'm trying to figure out what the best way to store them and keep them safe from rust. I've been thinking maybe a wooden box with a hinged lid, lined inside with felt or something like that would work if i threw a few silicone packets in there with them.. would this be enough? I'm open to alternate ideas.

My alternate idea would be to find some other place to keep them. My razors see the bathroom for only the few minutes I shave with them, then they're stored in the bedroom. If I had no other place to store them, I'd rather put them in the car. Rust is bad. Avoiding rust is good.

One alternative... Store them on the wall in your bedroom. I picked up an old spoon display case at an antique store for about $20, covered the top and front of the holes with electrical tape, and put some razors in it! The tangs fit nicely into the bottom of the holes, and are quite secure.

I tend to use one razor exclusively for several weeks or even months at a time (often until it needs a trip to the hones). That razor stays in the bathroom, but is oiled after each shave. I've never seen any ill effects from leaving it in the bathroom.

The razors that are not in use are tucked away in a drawer in the bedroom.

My two rotation razors are coated with mineral oil, via Q-tip after each shave and then wrapped in a cheap linen handkerchief, bought at Wal-Mart. They sit on the bathroom sink counter top. 11 months, not a sign of rust or blemish.

It's realistic that most razors were kept in the bathroom in the past. I think we're all paranoid today. I don't keep my many razors there, but I keep whispering to myself that doing so is fine.

I know there are quite a few guys that have the Alembicase and really like it. It's on my christmas wish list for the wifey.
