If you could only have one straight razor...what would it be and why?
(Price should be something reasonable - like $500 or less.)

I'd probably go for a custom 5/8 french point (a la the Thiers Issard Celebration Silverwing) with top and bottom jimps and a pair of graceful, sleek cocobolo scales.

Alas, it will be a while before I can figure something like that out...sigh.

my Case's Ace given to me by my grandfather. I wouldn't give it up for anything; it shaves great and looks just as good as it shaves!

For some reason, my Henckels #38. Best overall in the very long run. Going on 7 years, Easy and always right! Of course, I hope I do not ever have to give up the rest!!! They have their merits!!

Tough choice but I think that it would be my Mappin Lancet Edge.

Unless you have shaved with one of these, I would reconsider, I have one and its NOT the one I would pick if I could have only one.
I would take my G&H french point,KAMA, or any good vintage solingen

A completely restored Wade & Butcher 7/8 or 8/8. The WB I just got back from Lynn all be it not restored but damn clean and shiny is about as close to perfection as I've gotten so far.
