Dovo carpe diem

Its a very nice looking razor in my opinion and as a newbie I would like to take som advise from you guys because the most important thing for me is the shave... I want my first a razor to be a very fine shaver.. Anyone here has tried the carpe diem?? do you recomend it as a fine shaver???
I havent decided from the following razors

Dovo carpe diem
Dovo special tortoise
Thiers issard Le Grelot
Mastro Livi new Grinds

Price is not a problem for me ,,, what do you think is the finest shaver of this list?? I hope there is someone here who have tried this razors

I can't comment on the others but my first razor was a Dovo Special in the Tortoise scales. Still have it and its a darn fine shaver :)

I will let you all know what I think of the Livi new grind tonight as I just received mine today. Talk about a great Friday! :D

I have an T-I Oak Wing that I love, but I don't have any Le Grelots. I hear they are fine shavers, so some day I will get one.

I also own a Dovo Flowing, and it is a fine shaver, but the Livi is a custom and not really comparable in terms of price and what you are getting. It's the odd man out in your list, if you ask me.

Personally, I would go with the Livi. I have one and it's a super shaver. The Le grelot is great also. You won't go wrong with any really but to me it's between the TI and Livi. Get the one that speaks to you.

Of course, you just went for the easy answer. That Livi was sure talking to me as I rationalized its purchase in 5 nanoseconds or less. Couldn't let ledemon beat me to it. ;)

thats true man,, I was just going to purchase the one from SRD with abalone scales,, what a beautyful razor!! It was out of stock in just 2 hours since they posted it,,

I have been eyeing the Livi New Grind area on SRD since Christmas, so when I saw the Abalone INOX 6/8, I lept so fast I'm fairly certain there was air between the chair and my butt. :) Sorry, sir. Get a Le Grelot! T-I makes wonderful razors. Then, snap up the next Livi New Grind the nanosecond you see the blade posted.

I'd get the Carpe Diem just for the name. Fitting somehow for a straight razor. I do plan to buy one one of these days. I should add I can't speak to the quality of any of them, I just like the name.

If price is not a problem buy a Dovo for practice & the Livi or T.I. for later use. As a newb, accidents are more likely. A Dovo is more easily replaced than a Livi.

Let us know your experience once you get it,, or even post a complete review!,, that´ll be great to see,, I haven´t seen any review on that particular razor here,, congrats man.. someday Ill get one of those

Will do, my friend. I had planned to shave tonight with the Livi but my crazy soon-to-be-evicted renter is threatening my family, so I'm not exactly in a mood to shave. :cry:

I received the razor this afternoon at work. My g/f already shot some pictures this evening. Since I mistakenly told her the Abalone INOX was for her (stupid me!), my razor got more time in HER hands than mine. LOL. I had told her I was done "for a while" 2 razors ago now. <sigh> She tells me she will let me use it, so that is good news.

I hope to post a review this weekend. Stay tuned, and again, I feel bad how we met here. ;)

I have several DOVOs and please allow me to tell you that the BISMARCK model is quite a good shaver. I have two modern Bismarcks that, when properly honed and stropped, will give you a very, very nice shave.

I also have a pre-war Bismarck which I would never trade or sell. And my surname is SELL.....!
