Otto Busch Solingen - Wald
Bought this off Marktplaats (Dutch Flea-bay) for €15,- (App. $20,-)
And it's going to be my first restoration project.
As you can see it's not in bad shape at all, and I bet it's been gathering dust in some (now deceased?) collectors closet.
Correct me if i'm wrong but its seems to be a Half hollow 6/8 blade with round point.
It's stamped "O. Busch germany" and on the other side it's stamped "164 solingen - wald" with a tiny man sitting on the spine of a razor.
The scales are made of bakelite or celluloid, as there seems to be no grain in it.
The scales fit perfectly as the blade slides slat-bang in the middleOnly the pivot is a bit too loose to my taste.
As to the condition there seems to be some minor rust near the pivot ut no traces of previous rust.
The blade has quite a frown and there seems to be no noticable bevel. Yet some slight hone-wear on the spine.
So i'm concluding it was honed badly, but not very often
All in all not a bad find I think and I look forward to restoring it.
All comments and tips are welcome.
Would anyone know what the 164 means? Is it the production number?
