for that money you could go on ebay and get a beautiful vintage blade...possible even a NOS blade. I am more than sure you would appreciate it much more than a Dovo. just type in NOS razors on ebay and have a look before you buy a dovo :)

What is a NOS blade?
New Old Stock = NOS
Basically a blade that hasn't been used. They're usually in perfect or near perfect condition.
Check out the Vintage Straight Razors section at the site you were looking at the Dovo for NOS. It gets interesting.

Ya I would have went for the Hart steel too...just saying.
I love my Dovo's, but only in 6/8's...the 5/8's dovo's and I dont get along. Weird because I have razors from 3/8-9/8ths 1817-2011 stainless steel and carbon. only my 5/8 dovo gave me trouble every time (and it was pro honed by Lynn). I ended up giving it to a friend to learn how to shave. Like everything else in this business YMMV! enjoy your ride!!
btw good for you resisting the Ebay NOS bug! wait until your really into it to start hitting that site ;)
In my opinion carbon razor better for beginners, their easier to stop and the blade more forgiving, but it's only my opinion and my experience.
Have you chosen strop already?
