Default Longest without needing to touch up your razor?

I've been using my Dovo Flowing for about 2 months now, roughly 5-6 shaves a week. I strop before and after each shave with either a paddle strop with premium/felt or with hanging red latigo/webbing. Haven't put it to a hone or anything yet. Mind you it did come honed from Lynn when I purchased it.

Is this the average time between "touch ups" or should it last much longer? I'm still getting great shaves, pretty much same as day one.

    Thanks,

    Jono

I generally get a couple of months out of one razor before honing, I don't actually let it get to the stage that it "needs" a hone. It is difficult to say how much longer it will last.
It is also true to say that improvement in your technique has probably offset any loss in "Sharpness".

There is simply too many variables to answer your question directly. As your techniques improve, your edges will last longer to a point. A facial hair is actually pretty tough (I have read as tough as pure copper the same diameter) and the edge will need some help at some point. I know that Glen did a test to see how long a razor could go with only touching up with a .5 micron diamond sprayed strop and he got bored at 6 months when he saw no deterioration of the edge. As long as you don't roll an edge or damage the edge some other way, a pasted strop or barber hone (or both) could make that original edge last...well, as long as you shave.
