Does the SRP logo razor actually exist (with turquois-colored scales, inlay, stainless hardware, long tail, and smiling sway-back blade with barber notch?
The fellow who designed the logo had plans to produce the actual hard copy but I haven't heard anything about it in a couple of years. Maybe life got in the way .....
I wonder if any of the other custom razor makers here are up to the task, or would that be considered stepping on someone's toes?
I would guess that SRP must own the logo to be using it. I would think that if they own the logo, they should own the image of it in whatever form. Just a guess, though.
There is an SRP Theirs Issard straight razor from a few years back. I've got one and it is a good shaver. It would be cool if there was enough demand for another round of them.
Another SRP LE straight would have been cool, the ones that was made last time don't seem to come up for sale very often.
I'm sure there's a lot of memebers that would be interested in one, as a Senior Mod woudn't this be something you could take up for discussion "behind the curtain"?
Do you have a photo you could post Jimmy?
Maybe Lynn had great grandfathers who made em and kept the SRP name going.
There's a pic of a slightly rusted one from a couple of years back in the first post of this thread: http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...le-blades.html
James.
Edit: Actually, a better pic of the restored version on page 2 of that thread. Nice job shooter!
You mean this one:
I'd love to see another SRP special in the style of the one pictured in the logo. Thing is there has to be a minimum order of ..... who knows .... couple of hundred maybe ? If it was an outfit like TI I imagine they would want a substantial down payment if not all the $ in advance. A custom maker would have to put all his resources into the one job until it was done and paid for , so chances are it would have to be a factory built razor.... IMHO. Anyway, anyone who has any power to get the ball rolling is reading this thread so you can be sure if it is a financially viable project they will want to do it as much as we want to see it done.
I am interested
The logo razor would be impossible for a factory, and I can't see Max or anyone signing up to make 100+ customs in the same style. the closest I can think of is Thiers' 7/8 'Dreadnaught', but even then it would be prohibitively expensive ($300-$400 bucks at least). I would definately be in for one, but for the good of the project it would have to be something >$200 USD. Boker 5/8 perhaps?
Hi, everybody!!! http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...make-me-6.html I already lifted this subject, but to me didn't answer. It would be desirable to try to make such razor.
Doing a custom type would probably be limited to a very small number like 20 or 30 tops which would be on a first come first serve basis and I think many folks would find themselves left out in the cold.
We did a second custom here with those Livi razors, remember? There were very limited numbers.
I would definitely be interested!!!
Hey Jimmy, yeah life has most certainly got in the way - that's for sure. For those who don't know I designed the SRP logo and I still would love to create a small-batch of custom SRP razors. I am however a little ways off from getting it running at this stage. I'm only 80% done on building/purchasing the machinery I need to start making my own custom razors - so meanwhile it would be great if any other custom maker wanted to take up the challenge. But it must be done properly - a small-batch pure custom run, first come first served sort of thing... an SRP official logo-razor deserves that sort of class :) just my opinion..

I'd be interested in one of those. Lezcha says he can make them...
If TI or Boker would produce a run of them, I would buy one and pre pay. Very best, John
Hey, what about Hart razor. They are small enough company to pay attention to detail, would appreciate the business, and from what I hear they make a dang fine razor...
I too would pay for one up front for one
Hart's not a bad idea. Have been waiting for an excuse to get one lol.
Count me in.
Must have Must have. RAD attack.
I've also been looking for a reason to get a Hart razor. Would jump at this one!
I'd pinch my pennies for an SRP Hart. What grind are we talking about, or is that a gift-horse sort of question? My interest is currently growing toward extra-hollows.
I"d be interested in one, especially if it's a Hart.
I just mentioned it to my wife, and she asked "are you prepping me for a razor purchase" lol
Sign me up! Willing to prepay as well.
Larger the better, 6/8 or up. if we're going to do it, might as well go big. :)
Classy of course. I do like the idea of the Dreadnaught design.
If you get Hart interested I want one.
I would be in, prepaid, for any maker
Maybe I am mistaken but I should one razor Heart with "Smile". Correct me if I am mistaken, and the forum razor "Smile"
I'd probably do it.
I think a 5/8 or 6/8 round point with the SRP logo on the scales would be nice. That would make for a reasonably priced, relatively accessible razor.
Michael
I'm also interested in a SRP razor. I think it'll really awesome to own one as my second straight razor and it'll definitely be an upgrade to what I'm using right now :D
(ugh.. I wish I still had all my blacksmithing stuff :P)
I sent a email to Hart & Classic Shaving (the cut/past option for contact was for Classic Shaving) in regards to a group buy to see if they would even be interested. If I don't hear from them by tomorrow I will call them.
I would be in depending on the price, so if everything gets established and a price Congress out I'll make my decision then
I'd definitely be in for one. But, everyone please make sure the proper procedure is being followed for a group buy!
Hi Oleg. I don't think we intend to be rude by ignoring your post, but I think there is a small problem with us undersdtanding each other sometimes because of language. You make very nice razors. I think that many members would be interested buying this razor regardless of who makes it. I think the number of razors that would need to be made would overwhelm any custom maker. It would be too many for them to make and still fill other orders.
Everyone, I'm glad that this post generated so much enthusiasm, but I was just asking if that one razor exists, not if we could create a limited edition group buy. That said, I'm in if it happens ;)
I do want to make sure we have proper site approval, as well as giving proper credit to the designer as well as the owner of the intellectual property that is the design. I don't think anyone can move forward until the owner of the site permits the group buy and verifies ownership of the design.
Once that happened, I would suggest that any custom maker who wants to make the design get approval from SRP to make some number, but without any expectation of being exclusive. If we instead want the maker to have exclusive rights to make the design, it will need to be a high-output operation like Hart Steel or larger (Dovo, TI, Boker, etc.).
