Default Just picked up my first two straight razors. Can anyone help identify or give opinion

Just picked up these two blades from ebay. I beleive they are well known brands, but would like anyones help on identifying age or giving me an opinion of condition/quality. The first one is a " Miller, Sloss and Scott" with "made in Germany" on it and sold in San Francisco. The second blade has " J.A. Henckels Twin Works German, 69 Solingen, Germany, Graef & Schmidt." I paid around 25 bucks each. Thanks. This site has been very helpfull in helping me learn the art of the straight shave.

I'm wondering if the Miller Sloss and Scott razor is simply a MSS box with a generic razor in it, as i dont see any makers marks on the blade. i havent recieved these in the mail yet, so i will have to take a better look when they arrive.

EDIT: According to the seller, the blade is infact marked Miller, Sloss and Scott.

Welcome to SRP. They look nice. Go to the SRP classifieds 'member services' to get someone to hone them to shave ready, and if you choose to go for it, to polish them up. Unless you are experienced in honing/restoring yourself.

I have no experience with the Miller, but can tell you for sure that the Henckels is a top of the food chain razor. Have that baby honed and you can enjoy the best shaves you will ever get!! Very Best, John
