Hello SRP. I've been crawling this forum and shaving with a straight (a Dovo Best, recommended by this forum) for about a year now, and have been really happy with it. Maybe I've caught the bug, though, because I've suddenly been finding myself dredging the local antique shops looking for a new blade. Anyone else know how I feel?
I've had no luck until finding my first one yesterday, and it was a Böker, no less. It had significant rust, but I thought the scales looked original. The stamp made me think it was older, like the 1924-35 range, but the included box says 2006.
Anyway, I thought I would post a few pictures and see what you guys thought. I managed to talk the guy down to $38. I'm hoping it was a good buy, but, if not, I'm really not out much. At worst, I'll get some good honing practice.
EDIT:
Good news. There was only one significant pit, but, after a few hours on my Norton 4/8, the blade took a gorgeous edge. It started life as a 7/8, but is now closer to a 13/16. Shaves about like my Dovo, now. SUCCESS!
