They sure are. I have been checking on ebay daily for a while, one came up last week, but they didn't do shipping to Canada. Let me know if you ever wan to get rid of it
My gosh that is awesome!! That etching is really cool!!
Most of the ones I have seen the etching was almost gone. That might be why they are wanted.
Which makes me think, I might go out and have etching done on a razor one day...Just for the hell of it really. It looks awesome. Make up an old timey pattern maybe along the lines of a BSA motorbike on a narrow country lane or something or a horse dramn coach of the Cobb and Co days maybe and have it put on the blade of a favoured razor.

Anyone else hear Queen in their head?... >.>
Awesome razor btw, I have never seen one with such detail on the blade.
How would this have been etched. acid?
Yes, in Robert Doyle's, "Collecting Straight Razors", he says the companies began perfecting acid etching of blades in the 1850s IIRC. You began seeing the large Sheffields with the eagles, patriotic themes and such around that time. I have the impression that the Boker 'bicycle race' is circa late 1800s to early 1900s, but I don't know for sure.
I think the reason some people value that razor is because it is a great brand and because of the etch of course. I have always wanted one because I am an avid bicycle rider and love the darn two wheeled things. :beer2:
Thanks jimmy. and yes the bicycle race is circa 1893.
