Timeline of events:

1) Bought crappy shavette wannabe and had terrible shaves with thin blades. Destroyed my face. Still recovering.

2) Bought Dovo half hollow, thought life was grand, though it couldn't get any better.

3) bought hundred(?) + year old wade and butcher for half the price from Whippeddog.com and he said it would be honed etc.

4) used old razor and had BEST SHAVE OF LIFE. Period. End sentence.Stop.

Seriously had awesome super close three pass shave with no nicks etc from this old old old razor. I'm hooked now. Bring on all the vintage razors. I'm ready.
Wife said I am allowed since this shave came out so well.
This just proves to me that there is a difference between a "yeah its honed when I ship it" razor and a YES I honed it myself and I guarantee its sharpyness."(its a word now)

Revel in the wedge's glory.

[insert angels singing]
Even had an old box from WB to go with. How cool is that?

Joking aside yes I am quite impressed with what a vintage blade with a good hone can do. This alone set me to buy my own stones tonight from SRD. From the get go I was not sure I would even tackle that aspect of the hobby being so new to all of this but Glen and Lyn speak encouraging words on this forum so I made the jump. Look forward to lots of newbie honing questions now.
