Christopher Johnson 7 day set too expensive?

(Huh everyone with loads of money)
I spied a Christopher Johnson 7 day set with Ivory scales in a Tortoise shell case, how much?
Well it was priced at £560.00 but the nice man said I could have it for £490.00 as my friend had just spent £3,000 on a Dunhill lighter set!
I thought for all of ½ a second and said I would pass this time (& every other)
I was surprised there weren’t any other high end razors there actually. That was the only set I saw!
If you would like this set the fair is still on until Sunday but be quick because it might be sold!

Depending on the shape, it's not a horrible price for an ivory-scaled set, just not something to make profit on. 400 would be more fair and about 320 would give you expectations of a reasonable profit. However, I wouldn't be buying it as I prefer diversity of steels, grinds, points and sizes in my blades.

Mind you he's qouting the price in pounds...that's almost twice the price in $$$

I know.. A bit more than twice in CDN dollars. That's why I'm talking about really good shape and ivory scales.

Yes, it's approximately US$947, according to our friends at xe.com. I think I would have a hard time coughing up that much, though I wouldn't say the price is unreasonable, provided the blades were in good shape (and given the high-ticket cost, I suspect they were?)

Admit it, you were tempted?

I thought that the premium on the tortoise shell box would put it outside the value of the blades them selves.
I also couldn’t see a tortoise shell box collector paying a premium for the content of the box.
A valid customer would want both but they may be hard to find.
We will never know if it sells but I hope the person that finally gets it will appreciate it as a SRP member would!

Well, I am a member of everyone, but I am one who absolutely cannot afford such an amount of money for 7 razors though...

I didn’t get to look at the individual razors but I did see the backs in the box. I couldn’t see the days engraved on the spines clearly, I recon they were not mint.
