That is a nice rotation you have there. Sheffield blades ... real nice. I've seen 7 day sets with a soft cloth or leather case before. Maybe a cost cutting measure or for traveling. One way or another, nice set. Neil Miller or manah will probably be able to dig up some history on the maker.
You know that they were appointet cutlers to the court (only a handful of companies were). Sometimes there are thick ivory scales too, I have a set of mappin&webbs that's 2-3 times thicker than the normal ivory scales.
Ivory is really strong material, plus it's rare and expensive, so it was naturally cut thinly to cut the cost, but there's always the option to splurge and have thicker scales.
