Default I just got a 7 day set... Info please

I bought another seven day set and need some info: > They are: > Harrison Bros. & Howson Co. > Sheffield England (on one side) > > > American Specialty co. > Fifth Avenue Hotel > New York (on the other side)

The scales are Ivory > > The funny thing is they came in a leather pouch that is very old and has the days on the pouch but not on the spines... > They are Identical except for A difference in wear on the edge which is minor.

Question is ...I really don't know much about the manufacture or rarity.

I think the scales are too thick to be ivory, they look more like bone or faux ivory - celluloid. The crack in that way is typical of bone. But one can never say... Could you post a detailed pic of the scales?

They passed the hot pin test and they aren't porus at all. Bone usually has a porus look doesn.t it.

I agree, they are thick for Ivory. Mauri is correct in that bone can crack up the length, but then, ivory will too. It also looks like there are collars on the pins? That would be indicative of non ivory on most old Sheffields. Not all bone is as porous as other. You never know! A good close up of the end of one might be telling. Clean it up good!
