Ditto to all the above. I enjoy the BIG blades occasionally. They are a hand full and will hold a ton a lather.
Do they shave any better than a smaller razor? Not really, at least for me anyway. You can only cut the whiskers so close.
The big old wedgie blades DO cut quietly though. ;)
CheeatmeatP will probably buy the one you're looking at anyway...
I think his recent purchases of stub tails was a ruse to get us to look the other way..:roflmao
I did have a Friodur 8/8 finally but one day we were robbed so it's how now and I miss it that was a great shave indeed now all I have is little ones hahahahah
Wow, some awesome razors!!!! Great to see the pics. I'm from the uk, was wondering if anyone has any tips on where to buy old razors from apart from eBay, I've gone to carboots and markets here in Manchester and seen nothing, is every collector from uk all just buying from eBay??!!

Manchestertattoo, I have a 9/8 and a 8/8 Wade & Butcher. They are no harder to hone than my 5/8, 6/8, and 7/8 razors. They also shave just as well and as easily as the other razors. The only difference is with the 9/8. It has a lot of heft, so I have to be careful to not let the edge come down too heavy on my face, it's an issue of control of the blade. Shaving under the nose/upper lip is no biggie with these choppers. You will have to give it a go to see. I prefer larger blades, don't know why. Good luck, hope you find one soon.
